So, driving home from work, feeling like 9 miles of bad road and my car starts rumbling like a monster... jump off next exit into a gas station. As the picture shows, a little air isn't going to fix it one bit.
I'm a little bent, 2 days after Christmas and I have to buy a pair of 245/35ZR18's that are never in the budget... thanks Obama.
So, Ze Germans are so clever... the spare is a donut of course; however, to save on space, they give you a deflated spare and a gauged air pump you plug into the lighter. The tire is less than an inch tall on the rim at rest and inflates to what you see below in about 3 minutes.
Good times... now for some NyQuil and a pillow.

Damn bro sucks to hear. Will the difference in tire size damage the suspension at all?

Nope, car was even and level; actually rode really well too! Didn't take the off-ramp nor turns very quick, the contact patch on that spare looks to be about 3 inches wide haha.

I drove about 5mph in turns when I was on a spare tire. I don't like 7 year old spares.

Is this a Benz? I've had 3 W124 chassis models and they all did this. Mainly on the drivers side rear, and it would just wear out the very inner edge of the tire.

Ah good because that would suck.

Yep, W203 AMG... and it is the driver rear. Is it all that common or a coincidence?

Don't know if it's common as I haven't seen any chatter about it on the Benz forums, but having it happen on 3 cars is to me too much of a coincidence. That said, all the cars were in the 8 year, 80,000 mile range when I bought them, so I don't know what normal wear is. I always suspected worn bushings or something, but I never bothered to have them checked or replaced. As long as I stay on top of tire rotations, I can get about 25k miles out of the tires. FWIW, my W210 E420 and my mom's W203 C240 haven't had this issue.
